Jewellery Care
Jewellery Care
Our jewellery is designed to be long-lasting and durable. The majority of our pieces are water and tarnish resistant and we are working towards making all of our pieces completely resistant. Here are our recommendations to preserve the integrity and longevity of your Juke jewellery.
Stainless steel
Our stainless steel pieces are very durable and do not tarnish. However, they are susceptible to scratches which is why it requires extra care to ensure your pieces stay as shiny and new as possible. In order to minimise the look of scratches, if they should occur, please polish your pieces with a jewellery polishing cloth. We recommend that you limit the contact between your stainless steel pieces with jewellery made from other metals when storing and wearing the pieces. Please note that while plated stainless steel pieces are water resistant, wearing them in the swimming pool or shower can cause fading to your jewellery overtime.
Sterling silver
Silver naturally tarnishes overtime and so you should take extra care to ensure the longevity of your pieces. Ideally you should store your pieces in an airtight bag to help reduce the tarnishing. You should also remove your pieces before coming into contact with water and harsh chemicals.
Gold plated jewellery
Gold plating is a process where a layer of gold is coated onto the jewellery. However, as the piece is not solid gold extra care is advised. To decrease the chances of tarnishing that occurs with time and wear wait until you have applied your body cream or oil before putting on your jewellery. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals such as cleaning products and perfume with your jewellery.
PVD plated jewellery
PVD plating is a process where an advanced surface coating is applied to jewellery in order to protect it from everyday wear and tear. This ensures long lasting pieces that are water and tarnish resistant, however to prolong your pieces you should avoid harsh chemicals such as perfume or chlorine. To also avoid scratches keep your pieces separate to other pieces you might have. Also try to avoid knocking your pieces on hard surfaces.
